Air Canada vs. Delta for flights from North America to Sydney?
First, please let me apologize if I have posted in the wrong forum. It doesn't seem to fit perfectly with any particular one so I've started it here but please move if thee is a more appropriate place for it.
I am going to be making my first of many flights from Southwestern Ontario, Canada (London specifically, about equal distance to YYZ and DTW) to Australia in September and I'm trying to figure out what my best option is.
It appears that it will be between Air Canada's YYZ-YVR-SYD and Delta's DTW-LAX-SYD. I will also be purchasing a membership to whichever airline's lounge that I choose to fly with. Price wise, the total cost of a few RT flights a year plus lounge access appears comparable. I've flown Delta to LHR and TLV and have been very pleased. One slight downside to Delta is that I will need to clear customs/passport control in an addition country each time I travel between Canada and Australia, but I normally fly out of DTW and have gotten quite used to this process.
So I guess my main question is whether anyone has had any experience on Delta's LAX-SYD route or Air Canada's (YYZ-)YVR-SYD route and can share their experiences and thoughts on which may be a better flight.
Thanks for your help! This forum is full of tons of great information that has already helped me with my planning.
