CX has good intra-Asia availability, FWIW. I found loads of ICN-DPS availability doing some searching today (J at 45K is not a bad value, though I think I will stick with CO at 30K for J). The US-HKG part's going to be tricky (as is the HKG-Australia stuff).
KE has many, MANY blackout dates.
+1...even as a KE elite I have issues with
Skypass award bookings on blackouted days even though I get "Off-peak mileage redemption for bonus award travel during peak season";I've seen empty cabins but I was unable to get seats for "flagship" routes(North America-ICN) on blackout days even when booking far in advance! Then again, I didn't call in, I used KE's website.
Just take CX. No crazy blackouts, and HKG is just as good as ICN, or so I hear. While the LAX-HKG flight was close to full, the HKG-SIN flight still had 10 J award seats 6 months out...
