To Europe you will find UA wants 105000 miles compared to 80000 from Aeroplan but the difference is meaningless if you have to fork out more miles if return nonstop flights are preferred. I have found ANA site good for screening available *A FF flights before calling UA to book.
I have used Aeroplan on several occasions to secure F tix to SE Asia through Europe. At 120Kmiles it's been a rather easy task compared with UA's *net blocking. Never noticed any increase in costs when checking out various flight options.
Now why Cambodia is in a different region than Vietnam, Thailand and Laos is a completely different story.
