Hi,

I am facing similar problem. I am an non-EU national living in Berlin and have Niederlassung Visa for Germany. My passport is with SA embassy for visa issuance but I need to travel to Netherlands for some days.

I am driving by car, so there should be no mandatory border checks but still someone can ask me in Amsterdam for ID. Then what should I show ? I have a photocopy of my passport. I have a German driving license. Would that be enough ?

I do not have any letter from the embassy stating that they have my passport But I have an email from my travel agent confirming that he has received my passport (I sent it to him by registered post).

Any experiences with the same or any other advice ?

Thanks in Advance.
