While wifi is free at YYC, its not without a lot of hassle.
To get set up a passenger must do the following:
1. Activate Wifi and get to the login screen (some business computers this is a problem as they are customized for initial access to the company intranet or other portal services.
2. Create a user account on YYC Wifi through either facebook or email. Users must also enter in other information such as name, address, etc.
3. The wifi gives the user 10 minutes of internet to login onto thier email or facebook account and validate the email settings.
4. Once the email is validated, the user must logoff and logon again to get permanent wifi access.
5. Suposedly once the user has a validated account with YYC wifi, the logon is much more efficient and friendly, but account retention can be a problem for users not constantly passing through the airport.
Overall I find YYC Wifi to be the most user unfriendly wifi system because of the convoluted account activation process.
