Cairo Terminal 2 business lounge was disgraceful and am glad to see them redoing that whole nasty building. Domestic business lounges are inadequate or missing, hopefully some of the new airports will have something instead of the coupon for a free coke at the coffee kiosk.
Terminal 3 has turned out to be a very nice structure although it has the odd bits and bobs about it, especially an undersized domestic business lounge and huge lines at immigration at certain times. No worse than other airports in the region - this is Africa after all and the problems usually are from poor planning and management and not because there is anything wrong with the basic infrastructure of T3.
T2 was always the worst terminal a CAI, it was pure suffering to use that facility. I was delighted when I heard of the rennovation plans, and looking at the renders, looks like we can expect something similar to T3, maybe even better!
And you're right about T3, the infrastructure, and the terminal look and feel is superb, like any world class airport, hoever T3 isnt up to its full potential simply because of bad management as you mentioned. Hoping the management will improve someday.

FlyingPharaoh - writing as someone who, taken together with my wife, is flying into/out of CAI on average once every two-three weeks I have to record my appreciation at a tremendously interesting series of posts. A big 'thank you'.
The scary thing, for me at least, is that I've been flying through CAI on business since before the (now closed for renovations) T2 was even built; i.e. more than a quarter of a century ago!

T2 was built way before I was born!
I cant wait till all the projects are complete, a brand new T2, a monorail connecting all 3 terminals, and the 5 star Le Meridien Hotel. Would you agree CAI is about to see some of its best days ever?
