At SPG, it's the exact opposite. Overseas properties often treat Platinums exceptionally well. Though not a published benefit, many overseas properties do provide Platinums free breakfast, especially in Asia.

While my SPG suite upgrade % has been slipping, I have been upgraded to pretty much the best available room 95%+ of the time. When they were good to me back in the day, especially at W, I was batting 95% with W suite upgrades and many of them were specialty suites. These kind of upgrades seem to happen rarely, if at all, with Hyatt.

So, I didn't literally mean Hyatt gives no upgrade, but they happen far less frequently than with SPG.
Blissworld,

I am delighted to read that you have stayed at more and more Hyatt properties putting you in a position to add some quality content to the Hyatt forum. While your posts in the beginning definately lacked Hyatt-specific knowledge, your posts in other forums were quite the opposite. ^

Indeed, and as pointed out by myself in post II of this thread, one should not expect too much upgrade at Hyatt International properties and also not the best available room, although one can be sure that one receives a one category upgrade almost every time including Regency/Grand Club access.

Some Park Hyatts actually only have very few standard rooms and some Park Hyatt hotels are relatively small and booked more than solid, but despite those two factors, it is definately 'you get what you pay for' at those properties.

One should also not forget that quite some people book suites regularly at those hotels,

But once again, as pointed out numerous times already, expect an upgrade to a very good room on the club floor at Hyatt International properties, but never ever expect a suite upgrade for free, if you do not hold at least Lifetime Diamond status.
