At SPG, it's the exact opposite. Overseas properties often treat Platinums exceptionally well. Though not a published benefit, many overseas properties do provide Platinums free breakfast, especially in Asia.
While my SPG suite upgrade % has been slipping, I have been upgraded to pretty much the best available room 95%+ of the time. When they were good to me back in the day, especially at W, I was batting 95% with W suite upgrades and many of them were specialty suites. These kind of upgrades seem to happen rarely, if at all, with Hyatt.
So, I didn't literally mean Hyatt gives no upgrade, but they happen far less frequently than with SPG.
I agree. I don't understand how Gold Passport doesn't enforce the basic "Best Available Room" upgrade policy in Asia?
It's not a confusing policy and it's not as if these properties are confused about it; they are just choosing their own lesser upgrade policies. It's disappointing and frustrating.
