I've read a few news reports lately that talk about hand held CC devices being used by more than just FAs on board - i.e. gate agents...

These would be a viable tool for Gate Agents to charge for bags that really should have been checked to begin with - it will get rid of the folks who try to sneak an oversized carry on onboard, and then act surprised when it doesn't fit, and needs to be gate checked.

But thats all in the future - and I didn't see AA referenced in any of the reports....if my mind remembers anything - I believe Delta was starting to roll these out.
