Good, cheap(ish) place to stop for a night en route from Ohio to DC?

In two weeks I will be moving to DC, driving from Cincinnati, and I figure it will be easiest to stop over in Hagerstown or Cumberland (generally) so then I can avoid rush hour on the Beltway and all that, and just finish up the trip Saturday morning. So what I'm after is if there are any tips about staying outside of say, downtown Hagerstown to save money. The hotels around there and in Cumberland (just the two places I am more or less familiar with where I know I could still get a decent bite to eat too) all look around the same price from my quick search.
