I don't agree. Upgrades are an essential Diamond benefit. Maybe not suite upgrades (frankly I have had very few...).

But upgrades to the best available room below a suite should be a matter of fact (based upon availability), and ll too often, in Asia, I get the line: "we don;t upgrade to that level (premium deluxe room)" or "we only upgrade one category", or something like this which is clearly inconsistent with the program and just plain wrong.

Hyatt does little to enforce or police these abuses, IMO.
