ads between posts
Within about the last week in the DL forum, I've noticed the turquoise UA ads becoming more aggressive, especially it seems to me within the treads that criticize DL (for example this morning, longest time to wait for a gate?). I don't object to the cute ad at the top with miles flying out of the birdcage, but it's the later boxes with "click here to reserve" ads that are causing trouble.
These ads appear in their own real estate between the royal blue horizontal stripes that normally separate posts. For instance, this morning I saw the following:
birdcage miles want to be used on weekends
several posts as usual
post
turquoise box ad
post
turquoise box ad (same as previous ad)
post
turquoise box ad (same)
post
etc.
It's not only a lot of scrolling down to read the posts but more importantly to me, the first ad that appears between the two royal blue bars makes me believe that I've already finished reading through the entire thread and can now go back to the forum main page or (in fact this morning) makes me worry and wonder why the post I've submitted has not yet appeared.
One problem is that when I see the royal blue bar following a post without a time, etc. in the bar, I assume that I'm at the bottom of the thread. To amplify on the above sequence, normally I see the following:
post
royal blue bar with time data
next post
plain royal blue bar
end of thread stuff, perhaps an ad, reply box, etc.
Now I see the following:
post
plain royal blue bar
ad
royal blue bar with time information
post
plain royal blue bar
the same ad
royal blue bar with time data
post
plain royal blue bar
ad (the same one again)
plain royal blue bar
end of thread stuff
However, as I explained above, I stop before seeing a bunch of posts because, at the first plain blue bar, I think I've already reached the bottom of the thread.
Note that I'm not objecting to ads that appear between the same royal blue lines as a post, just the ones that seem to occupy the real estate of a normal post by themselves. So far, it's only been the United ads on the Delta forum that I've noticed display in this pattern and causing me problems.
Thanks.
