I still think it doesn't only sound a bit mean but does not do a very good job at 'selling' PV as a premium experience, as in my opinion one of the whole points of free tickets in premium classes is to sometimes try to convince people to pay for it afterwards (in many ways, I first got 'converted' to business class by upgrades and free tickets and now I pay for them so based on my very small experience, it can work!) - on paid tickets you get the 'connecting comfort' benefit too and it would seem strategic to me to have extended it to free tickets.
