I wonder with their strong presence in CUN if it would be feasible for them to use it as a southern focus city for connections throughout Central America. I have no idea what the legalities are on that but it may give them opportunities for range without having to connect people through DEN or MKE to get south. With service from a lot of spoke cities to CUN already it may make for some interesting connections.
While an interesting idea for sure, I'm not sure if this would logistically work.
CUN has a separate terminal for all U.S.-based airlines, with flights bound for the U.S. departing from Terminal 3, including F9.
Mexicana, and Aeromexico operate all of their inter-Mexico/South American flights, as well as their own international flights out of Terminal 2.
There is no sterile area between Terminal 2 and 3.
The only way it would work is if the Mexican government would allow F9 to operate out of T-2 and be the only U.S. carrier to do so.
