I am looking at HKG - JFK, and have previously flown CX840. CX 888 is much more convenient for me this trip, but I noticed that its trip time is 18hrs as against 15.5 for CX840.

Is this because it stops in LAX, or simply b/c the route is a bit different. If it is truly a non-stop flight, then the extra 2.5 hours doesn't bother me, but I don't want to have to land/wake up in LAX.

thanks
Like another poster said it's transit through YVR (Vancouver, Canada) not LAX. Also, you are ordered to remain in the plane for one hour and not be able to disembark to the terminal. Some people like the fact that you get three total meals out of it instead of two (one for JFK-YVR, 2 more for YVR-HKG), but others (such as myself) hate the extra take-off and landing.

It's really too bad, it would of been an ideal time for sleeping if it's a direct non-stop flight at that hour (JFK departure.)

Stick with CX840
