I have to admit I am rather surprised at the posts questioning the integrity of my request. Yes, there will be four adults in a room with 2 queen beds. This is not how I normally prefer to travel, but we are attending a wedding and staying with friends who do not have large sums of money. Sharing a room makes the trip much more affordable for them. It is also completely within the purview of the room rules to have 4 adults in one room.

Sure, it couldn't hurt to ask.. just like it doesn't hurt to ask storeowners if they will give stuff away for free.. but having a little integrity goes a long way.
In fact I feel I am taking the
more honest approach. If it were a weekday and the concierge lounge were open, all four of us would be able to use the lounge for breakfast. I read many posts where elites ask hotels for breakfast coupons for their entire families on weekend stays. Here I am asking for less than the equivalent of two breakfast coupons. I am paying a higher rate that includes breakfast for two adults and two children. If I could pay a $10 premium on my rate to substitute the two adults for two children, I would gladly do so. Unfortunately this is not an option when booking a room. Paying out of pocket for breakfast for 2 extra people for 2 days would cost an extra $70, an expense I would very much like to avoid.
Maybe posing the question in a different way would alleviate some of the criticism:
Does booking a rate that includes breakfast negatively impact your chance of getting weekend breakfast coupons (as a gold or platinum)?
or
Has anyone been able to substitute children benefits in a room rate for adult benefits?
Thanks!
