In AA so far all the points i got are Base Points (which are for status),
On LY8xxx flights by default on AA flights after sending the boarding pass (sometimes i was not need to do so, if you ask AA at the counter to put your LY FF number).

In Qantas you also get Base Points for status...

(In the AA link you will see how many points you will earn on each segment)
