I'm flying via BOS on the new 343 business class to ZRH. Perhaps just make a hop down that way to get out if u really want the new seating?
One advantage of LX discounted business class, compared to most other Star Alliance carriers flying TATL routes, is its competitive (ie decreased) fares. The disadvantage (at least when flying to/from YUL, for now) is that the business class cabin does not have flat beds.
I am sure that you have flown on business class with AC on international routes - it has a truly horizontal business class bed - and privacy (ie "pods"). I doubt that the LX business class flat bed will be anywhere near the level of the AC's business class seat - but I suspect that LX's new first class seat will surpass the quality of AC's J class seat.
What is the fare for you if you fly from YOW-BOS-Europe with BOS-Europe in J class with LX, compared to flying YOW-YUL-Europe with YUL to Europe in J class with LX.
The other disadvantages with flying via USA - the increased personal and luggage security measures; and perhaps (even for Canadian citizens) the need to use the non-US citizen/resident customs and immigration line, when arriving back in BOS from Europe.
