So be careful. Yes, the hold could be helpful, but I think I'd rather have the 24 hour worry-free cancel policy like United has. (And an unlimited cancel policy for 1K's!)
DL has unlimited change/cancellations for DM and PM.

But the "hold" is crucial if you are trying to book multiple awards from more than one account. But note that the hold only works when booking online, not over the phone.
