I would not recommend to anyone to take an extra leg through YYZ just for the advantage of transiting via MUC- I have been through MUC ~20 times this year, and FRA ~40: actually for me it is hard to see what the advantage of MUC is unless you particularly appreciate bus rides to the terminal and longer queues for security. FRA is fine- just follow the signs- and in the event of IROPS FRA is a much better airport to be at as there are significantly more options.

I have gone to Europe from YOW several years now on AC (since CP was taken over by AC). To maximize status mileage, I have always flown via YYZ or YUL - I have never flown directly from YOW to Europe, nor have I have taken any TATL flight from any other Canadian or US cities. My plan, unless convinced otherwise by others on this forum, is to use YYZ or YUL as the Canadian gateway cities for my TATL flights.
