Web check-in ethics?

I’m mostly a United flyer, but AA has red-eye’s to JFK from SEA and UA doesn’t. So I’ve bought a number of AA there & UA back tickets over the next few months. Since I don’t have status on AA, I was excited to try the new web check-in and avoid the general line at the airport.

But there’s a problem. My half and half tickets look like one-ways to the system which automatically gives me the dreaded SSSS's on my print-at-home boarding pass. This requires that I be placed in a special line at the airport and my bags vigorously searched tacking on 20+ extra minutes and certain frustration.

Now my moral dilemma is what if my printer accidentally forgot to print those SSSS's and I subsequently didn't have to go though a 20+ minute extra bag search. Are there actual laws being broken in that regard?

It’s probably not something I’ll do, but the thought really occurred to me and made me curious.
