By the way, is the leg in 'Q' on a CX or AA flight number. That makes a difference as well.

Does this actually make a difference? I thought the ability to earn miles was dependant on the metal rather than codeshares. I fly quite a lot ex-HKG and usually credit my economy tix to MPC but if I could earn miles on AA code shares I'd do that in a heartbeat as I don't like MPC that much.
AAs website is vague but suggests that it is the metal that matters.
