I was flying coach since this was a family vacation. However, I don't believe the first-class line was moving either. We were told the passengers from the previous days' flight had to be processed first. Couldn't AA had forecasted this backlog and brought in more agents?

I flew out of CDG on the 2nd, not this bad but still a few problems like lost baggage on the transfer from AA to BA and as for the baggage handlers seeing that this was an american plane do you really think you would be ahead of an air france plane,be thankful your luggage was even unloaded.
The lines well I guess you where in the coach lines with no status "ouch" I saw those lines when I left and I was so thankful of having status. I find it to be one of the greatest benifits traveling during the holiday season First class check in.
I'd chalk it off to a holiday travel experience.
