Why not train her? Pull out your Passport Card and show her that, too. Explain what NEXUS is. Let her know that anyone with that card has been through a more rigorous background check than TSA employees-- maybe she'll have new-found respect for anyone with a NEXUS card. Tell her that the same is true for cards she might encounter that say FAST or SENTRI and look just like the NEXUS card.
To be sure, it is not your job to train her. But that's what I'd have done if I'd had the time and there wasn't a line. In any case, I don't think that sarcastic remark was necessary.
I don't have a Passport Card, as a NEXUS does everything a Passport Card does and more. I actually did explain about NEXUS briefly, though I didn't go into SENTRI or FAST. I was actually pleasantly surprised that it didn't involve calling in a supe. LAX again required a 2 striper who then had to take it back to someone else again.

And? Doesn't mean you shouldn't know what it looks like. You are supposed to be trained on this.

I haven't taken my belt off in the US in years. I did have to take it off in Brussels today, and still alarmed for whatever reason. I will say that the pat down was so incredibly professional that I went out of my way to compliment the screener. The TSA could take a hint from the screeners at BRU, who are contract workers from Securitas.
