Availability for Z seats - what gives?

So, I'm currently waitlisted for a Z upgrade, from CDG-ATL this Friday. I've been checking every day, and always 0 seats available. Alternatively, I can go through AMS (I'm originating in BLQ). Last week, AMS-ATL had 0 seats available at Z. Then it changed to 2 seats. Then 4. Then 5. Right now there are 6 available seats on that flight, but still none from CDG.

Unfortunately, the connection time in AMS is a little worse... it also arrives later in ATL, and since I have an early flight the following day, I was looking forward to having more time at home between flights... AMS flight also, is on a 763, which is not something to look forward to... (versus A333 CDG).

In my opinion, 0 Zs CDG-ATL 3 days before flight is normal, but 6 available AMS-ATL seems strange!

Anyway, that's my rambling of the day! I want my in flight cookies
