I've been following the message boards for awhile, and figured I'd finally jump in with a newbie question. I'm planning a trip for next summer, flying from YYC - LED (St Petersburg), taking the train west, and flying back through either FRA or LHR.

The tentative itinerary is as follows:

YYC -> FRA (Fare Class W) LH 495 (AC 9200)
FRA -> LED (Fare Class W) LH 1454

Return

LHR -> YYC (Fare Class Q) AC 851.

I'm looking to maximize aeroplan points, and despite a lengthy read of the fare class explanations, I'm still a tad lost on the rewards offered for W class fares.

In reading the explanations on the Aeroplan website,

AC fare classes:
Tango Plus: M§, U§, H, Q, V, W, S, L, A 100% of miles flown

LH fare classes:
W, S, U 50% of miles flown (minimum 500)

The first two flights are LH codeshare flights, but booked through the Air Canada website. Will the miles be granted based on the LH fare class? or the AC fare class? The AC website also mentioned 1 mile per $2 spent on the website. Is that offered in addition to the miles flown?

I have plenty of time to shop around, as I won't leave until January, but any help clarifying this would be greatly appreciated.
