Thanks for all the help! I am looking to fly business class, two tickets, as I know have 380K miles built up. Any experience getting business class seats on this route using awards?

When I go to the Maldives on OneWorld, I usually fly US-HKG-CMB(Colombo, Sri Lanka) on CX and then buy a separate ticket for CMB-MLE which is a very short flight and very inexpensive.
You could do LAX-HKG-CMB on CX using miles, and then buy CMB-MLE on either Emirates or SriLankan.
