LT status is automatic. You don't have to do anything other than meet the requirements.

The http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/marri...te-status.html thread will have more info on Marriott's LT status. Note that a year or so ago, Marriott reduced the number of points required. I do believe that is discussed in the thread as well.
