BTW, I am in US as well. I will never bother to call US call center again, they usually said "I can't help". Then I always call the HK base agent. Problem solved!
I.e. change tickets on mis-spell last name & first name by TA's fault, US base asked for $100 fee, but HK agent, done no problem. Cancel ticket and re-purchase the new ticket, and hold the orignial seat, which happened to me last year, the fare drop $300, I paid $150 cancellation fee each ticket, and re-purchase for 5 tickets. The US agent told me not possible to hold the seat, I called back HK base agent, they so patient and wait for me to cancel, and immediately hold all the seat, and wait me buy it online, and re-assign the seats back to me.
