Completely disagree with that thought process and if someone wants to work at Starbucks, AA or the dog pound for their entire life then more power to them. Ranting to the customer about their relatively petty work issues is however something that I would not tolerate in my business.
More power to them indeed, but that should not change their expectation of what they should reasonably expect to earn in that industry, even over a 30 year period. 30 years at Starbucks might make me a pretty highly paid barista, but only as far as baristas go.
