Stick with M+ and work to get 1K. Your domestic flights will upgrade as a M+ elite (at 18K short of 1K you are a 1P now, which according to udustats.com enjoys a high success rate; 1K is even better).

Since you fly LH on Z fares, you can have your 6 SWUs you would get as a one 1K printed to paper and use them to upgrade on LH. See http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/unite...ad-merged.html .

Also, consider using UA metal to FRA, and connecting to LH to India. This way you'll attain million mile status on UA much faster. When I go to India, depending on price (LH metal is sometimes cheaper), I usually use UA metal to across the Atlantic.
