I've taken this train 4 or 5 times in the last couple of years and arrived 3-5 hours later than scheduled twice. The other times were closer to 1 hour late.

The on time performance of Thailand Railways is probably on the level of Nok Air.

At least you're not taking the Ubon line. That particular line I'm more familiar with and is absolutely appalling in their scheduled vs actual performance.
