I was trying to book an award ticket, suddenly found out incredible fuel surcharge!! TPE-JFK one way fuel surcharge near to USD 80, altogether USD 127!!!

Fuel surcharge
All Cathay Pacific tickets issued or re-issued on / after 01 August 2010 (Effective on 01 August 2010 for tickets purchased offline in Taiwan) for travel on / after this date will be subjected to new fuel surcharge:
USD64.70 / HKD505 / CAD68.20 / NZD93 (From USD65.80 / HKD513 / CAD67.40 / NZD94) for flights between Hong Kong and Southwest Pacific, North America, Europe, Africa, Middle East and Indian Subcontinent.
USD12.60 / HKD98 / NZD18 (From USD13.50 / HKD105 / NZD19) for flights not mentioned above, including flights to / from Japan, itineraries originated from Korea as well as flights between New York and Vancouver.
Codeshare flights are also subjected to the respective fuel surcharge beginning 01 December, 2006.
Exceptions are codeshare trains with SNCF.
The surcharge will apply per flight sector, including children and infant fares. For tickets sold in Canada, the surcharge will be collected in Canadian dollars.
