Globaliser - Sorry, I may not have made myself clear. I feel entitled to whichever class my booking shows (be it CW, FIRST or WTP and WT for that matter), regardless of via which method that booking was attained. In other words, if I am in CW and have paid or have a MFU, I feel just as entitled to be there as, in my eyes, I have paid for it whether by revenue or via points).
Where my booking does not show it, then I do not feel entitled. But, in this case have used my GUF2 voucher to hope to cover 4 legs of a single return trip and only have 3 at this point. I was trying to get the wisdom of FT to try to understand the logic of how BA allocates these reward seats. If no availability opens up by the time I travel, then I won't feel any entitlement for something I don't have showing on my booking. Hope that clarifies.
Leisurefirst - Agree that all the miles floating around this year means that it gets silly trying to find availability. But, in light of the year BA has had it is perfectly understandable. From what I have read on this board though, there are some routes in far worse state for availability than these.
Pucci - thanks for the vote on my sanity

Yes, you are absolutely right, I would prefer to keep the family together. But, am also torn as to asking my wife and baby to downgrade when they don't travel alot and it will be a very special experience for them in F. Anyway, as you say, maybe there will be availability by August 25th, when we are due to fly, so the question will be happily moot.
