Just returned from stays at both the GH and PH Shanghai. In both cases, I was only offered Diamond UGs to below the highest category room.

At the Park Hyatt, I was told I could have either the choice of a Bund View Standard room or a City View Deluxe room, and NOT a Bund View Deluxe room. I noted that this was not the GP Policy: that Diamonds were supposed to be allocated to the best available room below a suite, which is this case/property is a Bund View Deluxe room. They then "found" a smoking BV Deluxe room for me as a 1x "courtesy", but clearly emphasized that this was not the policy.

I stayed at the GH twice. The first time, I was UG'd from the more expensive Bund View room to a Deluxe Bund View Room. This was indeed a very cool room as is a corner room on the 66th floor with corner floor to ceiling windows. I was also provided GC access. In fact, I have probably stayed at this property 10x as a Diamond, and this was my first UG to a Deluxe room.

The next time, I had booked the lowest category city view room and was UG'd to a standard bund view club floor room. I was specifically told that I was given the extra large/cool decluxe room previously because I had booked the higher rate.

This is now the third Hyatt in China (including GH Shenzhen) which seems to keep premium deluxe rooms out of the Diamond UG program, unless you book a higher category. This is a frustrating , consistent deviation from the Diamond program.

I will say the GH Beiing provided a huge UG to a CLub Floor suite last time...a nice exceptrion to the rule.
