Thumbs down Awful MCO agents disappoint yet again... cause missed flight.

So just a tiny background. I am moving from MCO to DEN and my mother was out helping me get the last of the move done. I bought us both award tickets from MCO-DEN via IAD for travel this last Wednesday. I made the reservation specifically so we were both on the same PNR so my 1K bennies would transfer over to her.

We arrived in MCO about 65 minutes before departure. I proceeded to use the kiosk to check us and our 6 bags in. Unfortunately, due to UA's great IT department, the kiosk would only allow my mother to check 2 bags free. Whatever, not a big deal.

There were two agents working the elite/FC check in line. Granted, both were busy, there was no line. So I politely informed the agent closest to me I needed assistance once he was done. He glanced over, nodded in acknowledgement and kept working.

So we waited... after about 5 minutes, I figured I better get the process of checking the other bags in because we were about 15 minutes from the cut-off. There were two other people, a guy in a red shirt and one of the curbside check guys. I inquired with both of them if they could tag my bags. The tags had already printed and were sitting behind the counter in the machine. They both were chit-chatting right in front of us. They responded with dis-interest and told us that we had to have a UA agent do it. I know this is not true as employees wearing those exact uniforms have tagged my bags in the past.

So we waited.... and we waited.... and we waited. Now, we were 5 minutes past bag cutoff. Both UA agents had moved on to other customers who walked up. I fully believe they were ignoring me on purpose. Attempts to ask them to help us were ignored or met with "I'll be there in a minute."

Finally, at 35 minutes to departure, the agent comes over begins tagging our bags. We have been standing at the counter for 30 minutes now. The agent has no sense of urgency. I inquire about the third bag for my mother. He says that she is only allowed 2 bags as a 3P and it doesn't matter if she is traveling with me on the same PNR. He says he will then look into it and then walks away.... AND GET THIS.... starts helping someone else!! I was furious. I called him out and he told me to be patient and that he was looking into it. Never mind the fact that we are 30 minutes from our departure time.

So we waited... and we waited.... and we waited. Finally 10 minutes later, he figures out she can, in fact, check 3 bags. It's not over yet, the bag was 61 pounds. He wants to charge us an overweight fee. Again, furious, I make my displeasure known. The agent next to him then tells him, "Yeah, she is allowed 70 lbs..."

So we book it through security only to get to the gate 8 miunutes before departure. Belt loaders attached, jetway with canopy attached and nothing looking ready for departure. The next 5 minutes, nothing changes. The agent then pulls the jetway and the plane pushes back. Then, TWO, yes two, agents walk up from our plane that was only booked to 120 something out of 182. I know for a fact it does not take 2 agents to close out a flight. They both walk past us, completely ignoring our presence.

Then, to add insult to injury, we watch our bags get loaded on after the plane had pushed back.

In the end, I called the 1K desk who rebooked us on the 612PM nonstop to Denver. I spoke with the airport supervisor who was very pleasant, as always. Our bags didn't make it.

I filed a bag claim in Denver. The delivery company then took 12 hours longer than they were supposed to.

All I can say is I am glad to no longer have MCO as my home airport.
