whenever that happens I remind the FA that it's supposed to be FEBO [the ex-TW flights in particular can be lax about it] and quite often that's enough to re-jigger the choices.
p.s. I agree about AA633, which I flew last friday. a lovely service despite some rough weather. and FEBO followed correctly (I had booked 5F in expectation).
