Just looking at this again I note you used AA miles, which isn't really a currency BA seems to trade in. Might be best to open a BA account before you write to them (and let them know the account number) so that there is place BA can deposit any compo miles into.

Get to learn about BA Visa promotions (?) and WT+ to J upgrades and BA miles are worthwhile.
