I have a question along this same thought. We are traveling Business on AA JFK-SAN non-stop. Dinner flight going and breakfast returning. What type of food can we expect? Is there a way we can request NO FISH beforehand? We've been disappointed in our past several JFK - SXM flights. Hoping this one will be better. </font>
This route is operated as a premium transcon on a 767-200, so the meals will be pretty good. Your outbound dinner will be served in several courses - warm nuts, salad, entree, dessert (normally ice cream, don't know whether they've changed the dessert ofering recently..., warm cookies prior to arrival.
Breakfast service on the return is nice for a breakfast, but I dn't find breakfast to be that impressive a meal in general. You should get a fresh fruit plate appetizer, followed by entree (cereal with yogurt, egg dish, or french toast/pancakes are usual breakfast choices). I believe they are still serving a light pre-arrival snack of cheese, fruit, and crackers, followed by warm cookies. My last transcon J breakfast (also on AA160, incidentally) was in July, so the service may have changed some since then.
If arrival time at JFK isn't such a big deal, you would get a much nicer meal presentation on the lunch flight SAN-JFK (also a 762).
