There's less likely a possibility of strikes on BA than ever, so don't get worried on that front.

The general consensus is that BA is better (including lounges, etc). I personally agree; although the food/drink on BA flights leaves a bit to be desired if you're used to being overfed on AA or spoiled with the wine on AF.

I'd start with seeing what's available and go with what fits your budget. He'll be happy either way I suspect.
