BA's hard product is superior to AA's in both J and F. The aforementioned fuel surcharge could add cost for a BA redemption, but IMHO it's worth it.
That's debatable, especially if you're stuck on BA's 744 where the First cabin is very cramped with old, narrow seats. In addition, don't even think of letting your dad fly BA if there is a hint of another round of strikes.
