Having been in 3 hotel fire alarm situations over the past 20 years, I only asked for a free breakfast once (when I was staying on an award night where breakfast wasn't included). The only reason I asked was that the alarm was caused by "guests" (actually incoming college students at UT) playing with fire extinguishers and we were out of our rooms for 3 hours.

They gave it to me without protest. Unfortunately, there was no steak and eggs on the menu.
