It is not quite that simple. In order to use the card on other transport systems (not only in Amsterdam, but in the whole country), you must activate the card as an OV Chipkaart. This can be sort of done online (some parts of the site only work with Internet Explorer currently).
I'm also not sure about the RailPlus as I still have a paper card for that. I will get my new Voordeelurenkaart next month, so perhaps this year the Railplus will be in the card.
