Indeed, being in the loop I do know that, so far, LGW flights have been unaffected by IA. But it's just the uncertainty surrounding BA at the moment, you just don't know what stunt the unions might pull next.
Plus we had quite the job re-scheduling our Spring trip, that was affected by the last round of strikes. From changing hotel bookings, car hire, the loss of non-refundable internal U.S. flights, making sure that friends & relations would be at home for the new dates, not to mention having to re-schedule days off work for both myself & Mrs Kered. All of which needed to be done very quickly over a weekend. So we just don't want to have to put ourselves in such a position again & therefore won't be booking with BA again until stability has returned.
So what all of this IA malarky has done, is get us to look at other options, where in the past we would have always taken tier points, BAEC status, lounge access etc, along with an actual decision made to place our loyalty with BA, into consideration. Thereby choosing to fly BA over the alternatives that were open to us. Now though we are looking at those alternatives & the inherent risk to BA, is that having taken those alternatives, we may decide not to come back.
For instance for our upcoming MCO trip, we're flying direct from DUB with EI. While it's an all economy service flight, we can for a supplement, sit in the premier cabin, in their new lie flat seats. The total cost, including the extra for the Premier seats, works out around half that of CW with BA. Granted there's no lounge access & the food & service on board will be Y not J, so for all the world it's WTP. But, it's WTP in a lie flat seat, it's one flight there & one flight home with no connections through London. All very attractive I must say.
So if this works out anyway half right at all, BA will no longer be considered for our (now

) annual MCO trip. Same goes for our other TATL trip booked for next Feb.
Now as I've said, I fully accept that we are but two of the millions of BA PAX, but nonetheless we are two SCH's, so not wholly insignificant to BA (I hope) & I have to wonder how many more are out there like us.
