I think NRT-DTW will continue to have daily flights, because NRT is the gateway city to pretty much all of DL's Asian destinations... DTW-HND will be purely O/D traffic.
Um..... lets look at the 744 fleet. The base is DTW(the only 744 base) so for the JFK 744 plane right now its does something like DTW-NRT-MNL-NRT-JFK-TLV-JFK-NRT-MNL-DTW.
the only 747 flight that is a turn around is the NGO flight, Plane goes DTW-NGO-MNL-NGO-DTW.

The only plane that does what you say is the 777 fleet. The ERs do ATL-DTW-ICN/PVG and back, the LR does ATL-DTW-HKG/PVG-DTW-LAX-SYD-ATL and back, the only reason for this is because ATL has no link between LAX and DTW, if DTW-NRT or LAX-NRT ever becomes a 777 they will kill those turns.
