I used to get this exact VDB from US out of DCA on occasion. Hot summer afternoon, 930-mile flight to MCI. If it was in the 90's it seemed like they'd VDB a few.

If it was even hotter or there was weather en route, they'd board everybody and throw in a pit stop in Kentucky or Tennessee (I forget which). I guess there was no way to VDB enough to still have a meaningful flight at that point...
