No, and there's no need to tell them anything before the x-ray. If there's a lot of other gear in there, or something the x-ray op has trouble with, they might do a hand check of the bag. But that seldom happens to me, and I carry a bag with lots of gadgets, cables, etc.

Anyone know if DL allows the use of a portable GPS inflight? AA does.
