I have understood the following :
- soft landing is subject to at least one qualifying flight
- as long as one remains Elite, miles do not expire
- for Ivory, a qualifying flight extends the validity to another 20 months

Therefore :
- if a Plat does not fly during the calendar year, he will drop to Ivory
- wether the expiry date is calculated based on the landing date or the last flight that occured during Elite era is the question
