No you have not. It is only done after you have flown (and some people have managed to change this even then). Normally one can still change the Frequent Flyer Program at the gate when you board.

Hmmm - I've often seen families with young kids split up in the business class cabin, to the extent that lately about 50% of the time I switch seats after I've boarded (and already have drink and started on the movie) in order to help a family sit together.
