A simple question with likely no simple answer, but I'll ask anyway.

I'm Skywards Silver at the moment, with a flight from AKL-DXB-LHR which will put my tier miles into Gold. Will I be able to access the AKL Emirates lounge since the trip itself will push me across the threshold?

When I moved from Blue to Silver on the same journey earlier this year I was able to access the Silver T2 lounge in DXB even though the journey hadn't completed yet - I don't know if the concierge was being nice or that the tier miles had already been processed as soon as I boarded the first flight.

So I understand that there is likely an element of luck in the process. But - has anyone had experience with the AKL lounge in the past? What are their staff like?
